I remember back in the 1990s, using school PCs to download NGE pictures in class when the teacher wasn't looking, thinking it wouldn't really get me into trouble since it wasn't porn and the girls were fully dressed. They were official promotional art for the show that I was viewing; certainly nothing people in Japan would have considered inappropriate for a public billboard.

Later (and older) I considered, how they're "fully dressed" in absolutely skin-tight fictional suits that show every curve these 14 year old girls' bodies have, and how perhaps watching a lot of Japanese anime (not as common or mainstream then as it is now) may have desensitized me to how an authority figure in my own culture would view it.

...Probably for the best I didn't get caught at it then. Teachers aside, peer judgement would not have been kind.
